Iphoneography.

A recent process I have learnt in photography is iphongraphy; it is basically the art of creating pictures with an iPhone apple device, although it can be made with other phone devices. This process involves, selecting an image off of your device and placing it in the enlarger, the image then projects onto the piece of photographic paper and then the print is placed in relevant developing solutions to get your outcomes. All of this is done in the safety of the dark room under strict conditions some of these conditions are as follows:

-       Do not remove paper from the bag until all phones are turned off otherwise it will ruin the paper and a print wont be able to be made.

-       When paper is placed on the enlarger while selecting an image make sure it is covered so again it is not exposed.

-       After you process your image take your phone out of the enlarger and turn the light off (while the paper is covered)

- Then you are ready to develop your print, it is easier to work in groups when taking part in this process so that you have full control over the light situation, wasted paper means wasted money.

I think the prints I created are definitely contemporary, the images were a series of different patterns taken from my personal pinterest, they were developed really well and are all accurately focused, I could see these designs printed on garments as they are so contemporary and interesting. It was my favorite process to take part in because it allowed me to integrate fashion and create good outcomes.

Spring/Summer Beauty Trends.

It might be a sad time for you lipstick fanatics because- eyes are the focus for autumn/winter 2014. From liquid latex applied to the lids at Dior to extra-long false lashes at Rochas and Gucci, make-up artists determinedly turned their attention to eye make-up when creating the season's catwalk beauty looks. Models like Malika Firth, Cara Delvingne, Jourdan Dunn all sported this look at fashion week and it is not going to die anytime soon.
Of course the effortless natural look remained popular, but this time with either a healthy, sporty vibe - partnered with naturally wavy, tousled hair - or with clever sculpting and definition for a perfected take on the bare-faced look. For hair, ballerina buns returned to the spotlight, whilst cornrows made an unexpected appearance at Alexander McQueen, Marchesa and also DKNY.

1. Light and Shade. Get hold of a highlighter for your face and under those dark circles, giving you a glow.

2. The Lash Effect. Long eye lashes are in this spring/summer so find a mascara that works for you and tame those lashes.

3. Plaits. Never thought these would make a return after your 10th birthday? think again, conrows and plaits are now the hairstyle of choice especially in fashion week, but do you have the guts?

4. Ballerina. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief as ballerina buns are back in, but when did they ever go? easy hair maintenance for an off duty look.

5. Colour Flash. Strong colours for the eyes are in, with colours such as cobalt and pink !

6. Sweeping Fringe. The return of the sweeping fringe, not a favourite of mine but if you can rock it go for it girls.

7. Morning After Eyes. Spring summer is all about bare face and eye makeup, so the morning eye look is essential find yourself some good eye liners and get to work.

8. Precious Metals. Metal like colours for the eyes are in and are actually rather flattering with warm skin tones.

9. Sports Luxe. Bare face and no makeup at all is not going to be disappearing from the cat walks anytime soon, so if you are brave enough, go for it.

10. Painterly beauty. Stripped black liner across the eye and blocked black colour is the last one on our list, as I save the favourite till last.

Homage Evaluation.!

I had some idea of what I wanted to create for this project but I had no idea how to go about making it. For help and guidance and mainly some inspiration along with a sprinkle of motivation I turned to my alexander McQueen book which is full of quotes and fashion advice wether it be making or wearing. McQueen being my favorite fashion designer I took one of his quotes on board and started my project.

Before I created my outcomes for homage I decided to look at two artists, Louise Richardson and Jenifer collier.

Louise Richardson makes objects with an ethereal quality that hint at the fact she almost became a ballerina.
It's difficult to know what to call Louise - she is more of an object maker than a straightforward artist. Her work has been described variously as dark and morbid. I took a lot of inspiration from Louise and her approach to dress making, she takes a handful of old memories and personal experiences when creating her work, it makes the audience stop and question their emotions and feelings. I wanted to do this in terms of my memory dress. I wanted to have a conversation between the book and the pictures so that they created an illustrated story through words and documentation. Prior to this I researched old photograph throughout my family tree, and used an old childhood book which was already falling apart, both Louise and Jenifer use old house hold or memorial objects that have become unable to use and ready for the trash and transform them into art and this is what I have tried to achieve.

In reference to Jennifer collier, I created two dresses made out of both padded envelopes and paper envelopes. Prior to the start of my homage project I took it upon myself to collect a various range of envelopes and stamps, making sure that they had previously been used. Taking my envelopes into textiles I sewed and created a dress template and cut out the finished dress. I collected a lot of pictures and inspiration from Jennifer I researched her personal blog thoroughly and had a look at her online exhibitions and installations. Jennifer’s work was a breath of fresh air, its quite diverse to Louise Richardson in terms of the use of materials but there is still some sort of underlying connection with the both of them. Her work is mainly paper based and she only ever uses a sewing machine to bind them, she created items like paper telephones and lamp shades her work seems to have no limits.

Louise Richardson’s work is diverse because she uses a range of materials such as wax and led being her main ones. Her outcomes are really astounding, it makes you take a step back and really admire the quality.

My favorite part of this project was delving back into old times and photos, and also my old childhood book, like Jennifer these were things left in cupboards probably never going to see the light of day again and so I think my outcome has brought a new leaf of life to my personal items.

Working on my sheets was great fun; I experimented with different drawing techniques and processes. I definitely pushed the boundaries in terms of presentation for this project. I have never produced sheet outcomes this successful yet.
One thing I realised while doing this project was the amount of respect I have for both Louise and Jenifer as artists because creating a these three dresses took a serious amount of patience and concentration, it really was a tester for me, there were times were I thought I wasn’t going to achieve anything

I placed my outcomes and sheets in my portfolio, it starts off being the Alexander McQueen quote and follows on to my dresses and design sheets, the sheets and dresses are coherent and have a certain relationship, I think you can clearly see this.

This project would have been impossible if I had not researched before, it really helped me expand my idea and created my outcomes. I hope to further homage in FMP and research into Louise Richardson and more of her work, I definitely y want to create work in the style of Louise in the future. This project has been a steppingstone of realisation for me and possibly were I want to take my work in the future.

Nigella Lawson For April Vogue - The Real Woman Behind The Cover

NIGELLA LAWSON is this month's Vogue cover star. Reclining in a jade green lace Burberry Prorsum dress, the chef wears only very minimal make-up on the April cover.
"I was terrified of being photographed without make-up," Lawson says in the piece, "and I hate having my looks talked up.  It always makes me feel I'm going to be a disappointment in the flesh."
A long-time contributor to Vogue magazine - Lawson had started writing a cookery column for Vogue in 1995 - she has this year added judging other people's cookery to her already bulging CV, with a panel slot on food show The Taste. But the author and chef says she may soon expand into another field entirely.
Original article can be found here
"I love what I do, but there are other parts of my brain that I haven't flexed in a .professional way," she said. "I do sometimes think that I've let the more analytical part of my brain slump slightly. I do like writing about food, but there's so much that interests me... I've been working - in a cottage-industry way - on an app, which, if it works, could be deeply thrilling.
